SWIM COURSE: FILLS QUICKLY

Assist with organizing start order and helping younger kids out of the end of the pool to head to the bike transition area, and giving encouragement.  Volunteer position for adults.   Teens 16 and up  who are comfortable making decisions/problem solving may also volunteer in this position.

TRANSITION AREA: FILLS QUICKLY

Assist with kids finding their bikes after the swim and parking their bikes after the ride (racks are numbered), making sure helmets are fastened before riding, keeping parents and spectators out and giving general instructions and encouragement.  Volunteer position for adults.

BIKE COURSE:

Monitor car traffic coming out of neighborhoods and instruct riders regarding upcoming turns, hills or speed bumps (small kids only). Course monitors will hold cars coming out of or going into neighborhood streets only – not traffic direction. Also a good spot to offer encouragement to the participants. Volunteer position for adults.   Teens 16 and up  who are comfortable making decisions/problem solving may also volunteer in this position.

RUN COURSE:

Similar to bike course for instructing runners of upcoming turns and offering encouragement.  Volunteer position for teens and adults.

FINISH LINE/AFTER PARTY: FILLS QUICKLY

Maintain security of finish line area as kids may only be released to the parent/guardian with a matching wristband. Congratulating finishers and handing out medals. Help out with organizing participants for photographs of age groups. Volunteer position for teens and adults.

FOOD:

Assist with transporting, set up and take down of post race food and beverages. Volunteer position for teens and adults.

VOLUNTEER WAIVERS

For those who are volunteering:    Please sign the USTA waiver and RA waivers and bring them to training/packet pickup event on Saturday May 09th.  You can access the waivers click the button below. If you can’t attend the training, let us know.
Participant Waivers MUST be signed at time of registration system

VOLUNTEER TRAINING

When:   Volunteer Training will be on Saturday May 09; tentative times are

  • RUN sentries: 10:00 AM

  • Bike Marshalls: will be contacted by the bike director

  • SWIM sentries: 9:30 AM

  • Transition 1 and 2: 10:00 AM

  • Finish Line: will be contacted by the finish line director

What: The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes and will allow you to pick up your volunteer identification, your free volunteer t-shirt and go over key aspects of your position.

Where: South Lakes High School – West Entrance. 11400 South Lakes Dr. Reston, VA (Upper stadium parking area)
